Questions
Do I need a Carbon Reduction Plan?
If you bid for central government contracts worth more than £5m a year, PPN 006 asks you to provide one, covering Scope 1, 2 and five Scope 3 categories, with a commitment to net zero by 2050. Many councils and large buyers ask for the same thing in smaller tenders.
Which conversion factors do you use?
The UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting published by DESNZ, loaded straight from the official flat files for 2019 to 2026, so older baseline years are covered too. Each entry uses the set for the reporting year its activity falls in, and shows the factor ID so it can be checked.
Is it suitable for SECR?
Yes. It produces the SECR table of energy use, Scope 1, 2 and transport Scope 3 emissions, an intensity ratio, a prior-year comparison and the methodology statement, ready for your directors' report.
What about carbon offsets?
We focus on measuring and reducing first, which is what PPN 006 and SECR ask for. Offsets are never counted as reductions in your reports. A vetted offsetting service is planned for later.
